Post K back for just 1 more question!!!
K I'm back for one more question then I'm gone...done with fish FOREV...for a very long time...

I discovered the old psychotic puffer dead today. Sadly I just fed him his last meal last night. I feel kinda bad now. Like I wished him to death. Because I said I was waiting for him to die...that I wasn't getting anymore fish, then I could take my tank down.
I mean I didn't do anything intentional to speed up the process. Like I just went out actually and bought him a batch of black worms a few weeks ago.

So that is my question. I have this brand new almost batch of TONS of black worms. WHat the heck do I do with them???

I don't want to like just flush them down the toilet, or anything. Not to mention would that even be ok to do? Should I just like bury them in the dirt outside? I do have a pond of goldfish outside. But since its like freezing cold out. They go into that like hibernation state...so I don't think I should put them in there. I'm sure they would eat them. But we don't feed the fish all winter. And they only eat pellet anyways. But not till its like consistently above 40 degrees.

So what should I do with them??? I hate to just kill them, its wasteful. I felt bad enough feeding LIVE worms to the fish, but I justified it by it being food. Well now I have nothing to eat them. So what do I do...

Primitive life forms like that don't feel pain. They react to pressure and temperature, but they don't have pain receptors.

I'm sorry about your puffer. :(

So what is the best way to dispose of them? That is what I need to know. Should I freeze them and then just like dump them outside? Or just dump them outside now?

I don't think putting them down my drain is a good idea. Or maybe it is, I have no idea. I just wish I hadn't just bought new ones a few weeks ago. I don't care about the price, I just have tons of squiggling worms now!!!

Take them back to the store, give them to a friend with fish... Heck, sell them on Ebay. Or just dump them outside, yeah. But do it far away from the house - you probably know how bad the dead ones stink.

K nevermind. I just dumped them in the pond today haha. It warmed up a bit. But they were either too cold to eat, or didn't realize it was food...because they didn't eat them. But oh well!

Thanks...and bye again!! Going to pack up my tank this weekend. If I EVER have fish again, or EVER puffers I will be back someday, if this place is still here. Thanks again for all the fun over the last few years!

Um... It's important NOT to put them into a place where they can survive... That's like releasing a fish into the wild. You should have killed them or given them away.

I gave them to my fish...I thought they would eat them.

I doubt they will survive in there over the winter so...They might be dead by now because the water is probably freezing in there.

And it's in a manmade pond in my backyard. What is the harm in that? It's not into the wild.

Oh, okay! I thought you meant a big pond out in the country or something.
