Gmail, sadly, is the source of 99% of the spam on this board. Thus, I've been forced to administratively ban the creation of dwarfpuffers.com accounts with gmail email addresses. It's just not tolerable anymore than whenever anyone comes here, 100-300 spam posts, some of vulgar acts of the flesh including graphic images, are the first thing they see. It saddens me to exclude new members from gmail, but they can get another online email service if they really want an account, I have included full info on getting one in the ban information displayed to any new users that tries to sign up using gmail. Gmail is great, and it's a shame to have to banish it forever, but quite frankly, they've just made it to darn easy to get an account and there is now a multimillion dollar industry in spamming on forums using fake email accounts, which on this board are almost exclusively from gmail. If you have a gmail account right now, and you have a problem with your service, I can probably fix your account if you email me, at sephiroth 010 (BAT) hotmail.com(I sure as hell hope you can figure that out, it's another captcha.)

Aw, too bad! I love my Gmail. Good think I use my old Yahoo! for forums and so forth.

I think that this was a smart move, Nick. These spammers have gotten way too creative. Why they target this little ol' site is beyond me, but I'm not sure what else can be done to keep them at bay except require Admin. approval for new members to the site, but neither of us have time for that.

That's good, the spamming problem was getting a little out of control. Not to say that you guys weren't doing a great job clearing the spam.
I always thought it was funny that spammers seemed to seriously enjoy spamming this forum! But then again it is a pretty awesome place !!

Many of the spammers are paid two ways - once for each post they get up, and a larger bonus if the links they have in their posts and/or profiles are clicked. So, while they may get almost none of the second type of money, putting up 20-80 posts(which takes only about 10 minutes with a spamming client preconfigured for the BBS version we use) each day or two is a significant income, especially when we consider that most of these people live in impoverished nations where a family can eat on 5$ US a week.
